Legendary King Ranch

My name is Benjamin and my history topic is King Ranch. The largest ranch in the United States, with an abundance of wildlife, farming and tourism, King Ranch has become a large part of Texas' economy. Founded in 1852, steamboat captain Richard King purchased the land and it has flourished to a land that covers 825,000 acres. King Ranch is not only a prime place to find a trophy White-tailed Deer or Nilgai, it has everything in between.King Ranch also has a huge part in farming, creating and deploying new farming techniques to produce more efficiently.  King Ranch has played a huge role in agriculture and has been the only true creator of a breed of cattle, the Santa Gertrudis and Santa Cruz.

The King Ranch farming legacy began when Captain Richard King traveled to Crullias, a small town suffering from a severe drought. Mr. King had purchased all the cattle from the townspeople in order to help them to survive the drought. As Mr. King was leaving, he noticed that he took the towns only source of meat, so he turned his horse around and made a deal with the people, if they were to come work on his ranch he would provide them with shelter.
